Anxiety counselling online
If your mind never seems to switch off, or your body reacts as if you’re in danger when you know you’re not, you’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay this way.
Does this sound familiar?
- Your mind races, especially at night.
- You expect the worst and try to plan for every possible disaster.
- Your heart pounds, your chest tightens or your stomach churns, seemingly out of nowhere.
- You avoid things (phone calls, driving, social plans) because of how they make you feel.
- You need a lot of reassurance before you can settle.
- You feel on edge, irritable or exhausted most of the time.
Your alarm system is stuck on
Anxiety is your body’s alarm system doing its job too well. It’s designed to protect you, but after stress, difficult experiences or a long period of pressure, it can start going off when there’s no real danger.
Avoiding what scares you brings short-term relief, but it quietly teaches the alarm that the danger was real, so the anxiety grows. Understanding this cycle is the first step to breaking it.
How I can help
Together we can:
- understand what sets your anxiety off and what keeps it going
- learn practical ways to calm your body when anxiety rises
- change your relationship with anxious thoughts so they have less power over you
- gently, at your own pace, start doing the things you’ve been avoiding
- where it helps, look at the deeper roots, such as past experiences or relationships
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed approaches, and can include hypnotherapy or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, sometimes called tapping) if they suit you.
How it works
- Book a free 30-minute chat. We talk about what’s going on and what you’d like to change. There’s no pressure to continue.
- Weekly 50-minute sessions on Zoom. From home, or anywhere private where you feel comfortable.
- Small steps between sessions. Short, practical exercises help you put what we talk about into everyday life.
I offer sessions seven days a week, including evenings and weekends, so you don’t have to wait for a gap in a waiting list.
Fees: sessions are from £55 for 50 minutes, with monthly packages available. Your first 30-minute chat is free.
If panic-like symptoms are new to you, it’s worth seeing your GP as well, to rule out any physical cause.
