Couples Counselling

In a relationship, we can encounter challenges along the way, these can be a lack of effective communication, loss of intimacy and loss of emotional connection.
These challenges alone can create a distance from each other, maybe you are just forming a blended family and are struggling to forge effective parenting strategies.
If we are coming to a relationship with past unresolved trauma this can further create a strain on our relationship.
Couples counselling isn’t about blame, it is about understanding each other and ourselves to create a deeper connection and to create a healthier happier long lasting relationship.
Other areas we can support in are: Affairs or infidelity, Conflict resolution, Money concerns, sexual difficulties, family conflicts and changing life choices.

What to Expect

How Sessions Work

We start with a free 30-minute chat to talk about what’s brought you here and whether we’re a good fit. If you’d like to go ahead, we meet weekly for 50-minute sessions on Zoom, at a time that suits you, seven days a week between 7am and 8pm UK time (8am to 9pm CET). Between sessions I’ll suggest small, practical exercises, and every few sessions we’ll look back at how things are changing.

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, a knot in your stomach, sleepless nights, panic attacks or a constant feeling that something is about to go wrong. It can make everyday things, from work meetings to social plans, feel exhausting.

In our sessions, we look at what keeps your anxiety going and where it may have started. I draw on CBT and ACT to help you notice anxious thought patterns and respond to them differently, alongside grounding and breathing techniques you can use straight away when anxiety rises. Where it helps, hypnotherapy can deepen relaxation and build confidence.

We go gently and at your pace. The aim is not to get rid of every worry, but to help you feel calmer, more in control and able to do the things that matter to you.

I offer online anxiety counselling by Zoom, seven days a week. Book a free 30-minute chat to talk about what you are going through.

Depression

Depression can feel like a heavy fog: low energy, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, feeling numb or tearful, or struggling to get through the day. Sometimes it follows a loss, a difficult relationship or a period of stress. Sometimes it creeps in without an obvious reason.

Counselling gives you space to talk about what has been happening without having to put on a brave face. Together we explore what may be keeping you stuck, including the harsh inner voice that often comes with low mood, and begin to loosen its hold.

Alongside talking things through, I use practical approaches such as CBT and small, manageable steps to reconnect with energy, routine and the people and activities that matter to you. Between-session check-ins mean you are not on your own when things feel hardest.

Wondering what I can offer you? I provide online counselling for depression to help you understand what is keeping you stuck and find your way back to feeling more like yourself. Book a free 30-minute chat.

Addiction Counselling

Addiction can take many forms: alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, gaming, sex or pornography. Whatever it looks like for you, it often starts as a way of coping and ends up taking more than it gives. Counselling offers a confidential, shame-free space to understand what is driving the behaviour and to take back control. Addiction counselling can help you:

How counselling can help

Online counselling with Calm Mind Therapy Services

Addictive behaviours are rarely just about the substance or activity itself. They are often linked to stress, loneliness, trauma, low self-worth or difficult relationships. With training in addictions counselling and trauma, addiction recovery pathways and relapse prevention, I work with you to understand your triggers, manage cravings, repair relationships affected by the addiction and build a life that feels worth staying well for. I also support partners and family members who are affected by a loved one’s addiction, including sex and porn addiction.

Sessions are online by Zoom, seven days a week, with check-ins between sessions available by agreement.

Types of Therapy Used to Overcome Addictions

Various therapies effectively treat addictions, offering unique approaches and benefits.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviours associated with addiction, helping develop healthier thinking patterns and coping strategies to reduce relapse.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

MI enhances motivation to change, resolves ambivalence, and fosters commitment to recovery.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT, useful for those with emotional regulation difficulties, combines acceptance and change strategies to improve emotional and behavioural control.

Group Therapy

Providing peer support and learning from others’ experiences, group therapy fosters a sense of community and shared resilience.

Family Therapy

Crucial in addressing the impact of addiction on relationships, family therapy improves family dynamics.
